Norwood is in the center of a total population base of 1,401,491 residing in the Cincinnati S.M.S.A.(Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area). More than three million people live within a 90 mile radius of Norwood and Greater Cincinnati making this area the 15th largest 90-minute market in the United States.

With Cinergy Field, Paul Brown Stadium and the Univervity of Cincinnati less than five miles away, Norwood is just minutes from the excitement of professional baseball's Cincinnati Reds, pro football's Cincinnati Bengals and college basketball's University of Cincinnati Bearcats. Xavier University's Cintas Center, a newly developed convocation center and home of the Xavier Musketeers basketball team, lies on Norwood's southwest border. Cincinnati Gardens, venue for numerous concerts, sporting events and exhibits, is less than one mile north of Norwood.  Norwood's own Shea Stadium provides a multi-purpose complex for a variety of local high school sporting events as well as regional competitions.

The City's park system maintains nine neighborhood parks featuring ballfields, swimming pools, tennis courts, basketball courts and picnic areas. Recognizing the importance of preserving green space within an urban area, Norwood is constantly striving to upgrade its park system. In early 1985, Norwood acquired a 14-acre natural woodland estate for park preservation purposes. The addition of this unique nature preserve further expands quality recreational and educational opportunities for the Norwood community.
