Through its participation in the computerized Regional Crime Information Center (R.C.I.C.),Norwood's Police Department has direct access to all available data and information from the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI), the Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS), and the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Norwood's commitment to leadership and excellence in law
enforcement
starts with a commitment to training and community involvement. Norwood
Police Officers utilize both the Norwood Police Academy and outside
sources
for in-service training. In 1996, the Norwood Police Department
instituted
Community-Oriented Policing activities including Bike Patrol, D.A.R.E.
and Blockwatch.

Twelve hospitals are located within five miles of Norwood. A total of 27 hospitals within the Cincinnati metropolitan area provide more than 8,300 beds; this is approximately six beds for every1,000 area residents. The Norwood Health Center serves the public health needs of the Norwood community. Under the direction of the Norwood Board of Health, Norwood's Health Commissioner, Sanitarians and Public Health Nurses provide such essential services as inspections, immunizations, home outreach visits and health screening for the Norwood community. |
